About Navak

A calmer way to start life in Canada.

Navak is a Canadian newcomer platform that turns complicated topics into clear, practical guidance.

Why Navak exists

Moving to a new country comes with hundreds of questions. How do I open a bank account? What is a SIN? How does renting work here? Most of the answers exist, but they’re scattered across government websites, bank brochures, forums and group chats, and they’re often written for people who already know the system.

Navak exists to put the essentials in one calm place, in plain language, in the order you actually need them. You just arrived in Canada. We know there is a lot to figure out. We’ll help you understand what matters and what to do next.

How we work

Three principles guide everything we write and build.

  • Simple

We explain complicated topics in straightforward language.

  • Practical

Our content focuses on what you actually need to do.

  • Independent

Our goal is to help you make informed decisions.

What Navak is, and isn’t

Navak is

  • An independent information platform for newcomers
  • Plain-language guides, checklists and tools
  • Free to use, with no account needed

Navak is not

  • Affiliated with the Government of Canada
  • A source of legal, immigration, financial or tax advice
  • A replacement for official sources, which always come first

Rules about immigration, taxes, healthcare and housing change, and they differ by province. Where that matters, our guides say so and point you to the official source to check before you act.

Not sure where to begin?

Answer two questions and get a checklist that fits where you are.
